What are Basic French Adjectives?

French adjectives describe qualities of nouns — size, color, shape, personality. Unlike English, most French adjectives come AFTER the noun: 'une maison rouge' (a red house, not 'rouge maison'). Learning common adjectives is essential for building fluent French sentences.

Short answer

French adjectives describe nouns — colors, sizes, emotions — and usually follow the noun: 'grand' (big), 'rouge' (red), 'heureux' (happy).
