How to Use French Negation?

French negation is built differently from English — instead of a single negative word, French uses two words that surround the verb. The most common form is ne...pas ('not'), but French also has ne...plus ('no longer'), ne...jamais ('never'), and others.

Short answer

French negation uses two words around the verb: ne [verb] pas. Ne...pas means 'not', ne...jamais means 'never', ne...plus means 'no longer', and ne...rien means 'nothing'.
