GPA Calculator
Calculate your GPA on the 4.0 scale. Add each course’s letter grade and credit hours; switch on weighted GPA for Honors (+0.5) and AP/IB (+1.0) courses.
GPA (4.0 scale)
4.00
How it works
- 1Add each course with its letter grade and credit hours.
- 2Each letter maps to grade points (A = 4.0, A− = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, …).
- 3GPA = Σ(grade points × credits) ÷ Σ(credits).
- 4For weighted GPA, Honors adds +0.5 and AP/IB adds +1.0 to each course’s points.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between weighted and unweighted GPA?
Unweighted GPA uses a 4.0 max for every course. Weighted GPA adds bonus points for harder courses (Honors +0.5, AP/IB +1.0), so it can exceed 4.0.
How do I calculate GPA with credit hours?
Multiply each course’s grade points by its credits, add them up, then divide by total credits.
What GPA is an A average?
A straight-A average is a 4.0 unweighted GPA.
